Bumper issue

Don,t tell everybody. But this is the first picture of the Ashness bridge Troll caught under Cumbria's most photographed bridge. Why? The most photographed bridge.
On a good day the view is fantastic. But it would not be traditional visit to the watendlath area if it was not raining.
What many of the tourists, don't do, is travel to the tarn (small lake) further up the valley.
Where, in my opinion there is a better bridge, with a better view.
only one day of rain the rest of the time
the view was like this.
Now why were we there, a bit of RnR or another mission.
I was chasing the rare money fungus , which can only be found in June.
this rare condition causes the stumps of trees to, exude coins.which we collect annually.
Nearer home and back on track.
INSECTS
pterostichus nigrita
mating meadow browns (not small heaths)
Small Skipper, I have always wondered where NASA got the design of the space shuttle
I need a ID for this (above) it's about one inch long.
virtually spotless ringlet
Second common darter of the day, which does not look full matured.
No idea (help)
first sighting of a darter of the year. Very few about, no doubt this will change, over the next few days.
Different view of a large skipper.
Other butterflies seen today. Small white, Large white. A number of common blue Including an enormous specimen Oh and this
Dark green frit at dru.
Now here is a moth, even Stewart or the other trappers have not caught.
The kamikaze moth
Actually it's a silver y which has impaled it's self onto a teasel spike.
Also starring the more garish five spot Dean has told me this is a narrow bordered spot I thought there was only two types .
and six spot
But the star spot and most impressive of the day, winning, the ugly but beautiful and eye catcher of the day awards
I think this is an Iron Prominent caterpillar ( correct me if I'm wrong).

Steve, your inidentified fly thing looks like one of the Robber Flies.

Spot on with the Iron Prominent caterpillar. But your Small Heaths are Meadow Browns + your 5-spot Burnet is Narrow-bordered spot.

Dean - thanks for the corrections.
I don't know why, I have done that with the meadows.
The burnet I have never heard of
