Where hopefully i was going to pick up a few damsels or dragons.
The emerald damsel (above) is recently emerged, but there were plenty on show around the ponds.
Many of the emeralds and common blues were in tandem. With males trying to disrupt pairs.
On the dragon front, Some common darters amongst the trees, all fairly fresh to the air world
There is a pair of emperors on the small pond, the female egg laying. Whilst watching the ovipositing female, I disturbed, another dragon, resting on the ground. I only had two views of this. Initially I thought of a black tailed skimmer because it flew low and landed on a bare patch of ground. But my second brief viewing led me to the conclusion of a worn female four spot due to the dark body , although it did seem a bit to bulky.
Another recent emergee were a couple of ruddy darter (Picture on darter blog)

Sebi - thank you
I really like that grasshopper. I haven't seen any in this part of the world for years.
Hi Stephen,
Many thanks for the apple advice. I don't know when would be a good time to plant an apple tree (this time of year perhaps) but I'll look on line and see if I can get some advice and find some productive trees.
I didn't get to Bank's Pond this year because I was unwell for most of the summer. Never mind: all the more to look for next year. I like the look of your Emperor ovipositing - that would be a good thing to see.
