Weather still white, but you would not think it as my lavender is still flowering.
Usually a little later in the winter, i'm visited by the more exotic garden birds

The irridesance of the underrated starling, is stunning.
But for unusual on the bird table try

This little fella.
One sure sign of bad weather is the woodpecker visiting,

And the numbers of birds suddenly in the garden was surprising. At least ten fat boys and a flock of finches and buntings including the 'budgies'

We have never had as many Yellow hammers (budgies) in the garden, well into double figures

Never one to be happy, I'm hoping for a brambling or a tree sparrow, both would be firsts for this garden.

Very envious of your garden visitors Steve. Although i did have a flyover (cold weather movement) Woodcock yesterday.
Nice shot of the yellowhammer ST. Bizarrely in my garden the birds have dissapeared in this cold snap, despite masses of food on the tree.
Dean- I live on the edge of a fairly big town, but its then surrounded by open countryside. It all helps.
I don't think,I have a chance of a woodcock, flyover or not. But never say never.
Quicksilver (as was)- my garden was a blackbird only zone for weeks. It's strange and unpredictable, that's why I keep looking out the window.
Used to get yellowhammer occassionally in my parents garden, always a thrill... best I get now are multiple wood pigeon!
I love the picture of the two starlings at the top of your blog. The cold weather and snow certainly does bring around many more birds.
